Helogens derivatives of alkanes are called haloalkanes.
the monohaloalkanes are called alkyle halides e.g methyle chloride, ethyle bromide etc.
their general formula is R-X
Types of alkyl halide.
There are three types of alkyl halide.
1.primary alkyl halides.
An alkyl halide in which halogen atom is bonded waith primary carbon is called primary alkyl halide.
e.g methyl chloride, ethyl chloride.
2. secondary alkyl.
Halide in which halgen atom is bonded with secondary carbon is called secondary alkyl halide.
e.g isopropyl chloride.
3.Tertiary alkyl halide.
An alkyle halide in which halogen atom is bonded with tertiary carbon is called tertiary alkyl halid.
e.g butyle chloride.
