  The study of electcity is divided into two main branches.


1. Electrostatics
2. Electrodynamic

Electrostatics.
   In electrostatics we study the property of electricity at rest.
 Electrodynamic.
 In electrodynamic or current electricity,we study the properties of electricity in motion.

 Electric charge.
 When we comb our dry hair, it is found that they stand on end and try to stick to comb.
    

              
In 1600 A.D. gilbert showed that some of substance, when rubbed with others, acquired
the property of attracting light bodies.
 The property so acquired by the bodies is called electricity or electric charge and bodies are said to be electrified.
